Hi Everyone,
Today I have really made up my mind to contribute something to our blog and I am all set to do so in the auspicious day of “Mahalaya”.
I am really missing the Puja environment staying here in US. The distant fragrance of Durga Puja is making my mood a bit pensive. However it’s really amazing when I think how our family has come up virtually from ashes and now as we look around us, we really see all our brothers and sisters are really doing well in their respective fields.
But things were not so rosy when our Father, Uncle, Pishis struggled their way to a decent family life and living. As some of you know my grandfather started a small wood factory at Beleghata, Kolkata. Ranga Dadu also joined hands in that business. It started between the year 1935 or 1940. Boro Dadu had a small fish business at Rashpur and our Dear Mejdadu or Menna (as I used to call him) worked in the then English firm . With whatever small savings Menna accumulated he helped my father in his studies and daily expenses. Menna was the backbone of our family. Without him our Father, Uncles would not have been as established as they are now. Menna ensured that all the daughters of his as well as of his brothers got a decent education and they all became graduate. When my father got established he made sure that all his brothers follow his path and complete their graduation and move on to specialised areas of education. I salute my Dad for being such a pillar to our family Coming from such a family, we have never lost our family values, and we are always humble as we know we belong from a family of rich tradition and history and it gives me immense pleasure to see that Chonte (Debashish Ray) has made such a brilliant effort to continue the legend of Boro Bari by uniting all of this generation under one platform. I wish all my brothers and sisters all the very best in this noble venture. I invite you to share your experiences.
Goodbye for today.
